Lords of Cthul
Lo and behold, the shroud betwixt out world and the other shall be pierced, and that pierce shall become a tear. And through this rift shall flow a wave of darkness so that the cities of man will be flooded by the corruption of the abyss. And there will be none to stand against this vile tide, for the armies of every nation will be sundered beneath the might of giants who shall rule the Earth.
Beyond the veil of our own universe exist myriad dimensions teeming with unknown threats. For eons, practitioners of the occult have dared to peel back that fragile layer that separates our world from a vast realm of darkness to glimpse the ancient powers that lurk within. From time to time, those horrors have slipped through the void.
No one knows if the cultists who summoned the Lords of Cthul to our world intentionally invited or accidentally unleashed them. The great Cthugrosh slew these foolish humans the moment he first slithered out of the abyss, perhaps his only merciful act. Followed by a legion of towering monsters and nightmare spawn, Cthugrosh wasted no time in spreading his primordial corruption across the globe. Where the Cthulians tread the earth blackens, vegetation withers, and humans bow in abject worship before the might of these eldritch demi-gods. Those who will not kneel find themselves transformed into hideous mockeries of their formal selves and forced to suffer their few remaining days as slaves to the will of these unappeasable beings.
Theologians of every faith name the Lords of Cthul as none other than the beasts that herald the end of days. Those that have witnessed these otherworldly abominations, however, know the Cthulians are something much older than the holy texts of man ever described, and that the end of days might be very far ahead of schedule.

Mega Cthugrosh
The Lords of Cthul are unspeakable horrors, and their lord Cthugrosh is the epitome of their diabolical and sinister nature. Ultra Cthugrosh maintains a good balance between his Brawl, Blast, and Power stats, relying on his ability to sacrifice his units to regain lost health and out last his opponent. Though primarily a brawler, Ultra Cthugrosh sacrifices specialization for a balanced mix of abilities, making him a dangerous all around opponent.
At first glance Mega Cthugrosh pales in comparison to his Ultra version. With overall lower Brawl, Blast and Power stats, Mega Cthugrosh cannot support the same aggressive play style of Ultra Cthugrosh. Mega Cthugrosh relies on his outstanding abilities, which disrupt his opponent’s plans, putting the initiative strictly in Mega Cthugrosh’s slimy tentacles. Overload grants his blast attacks Super Damage if the target monster’s controller has five or more power dice. This makes facing Mega Cthugrosh one of the only times in Monsterpocalypse where a player might be afraid of having too many Power Dice. Overload forces your opponent to choose between taking extra damage for hording Power Dice to use in big power attacks or keeping the number of Power Dice low, thereby avoiding the Super Damage but limiting their offensive options. Further, Overload will make your opponent think twice before Powering up or capturing Power Zones and securing buildings in order to avoid gaining too many Power Dice. When his opponent does use those Power Dice against Mega Cthugrosh, Power Sink gives him a Power Die potentially giving him the ability to counter with his own power attack.
Mega Cthugrosh also causes units a large amount of consternation. The Mire skill causes enemy units within 2 spaces of Mega Cthugrosh to count those spaces twice for movement. Combined with the Terrify skill, Mega Cthugrosh can stall opposing units completely, as units cannot move adjacent to a figure with Terrify. This not only protects Mega Cthugrosh from unit brawl attacks, it can also be used to control where those units move. By placing Mega Cthugrosh adjacent to opposing units the first move they make will have to be directly away from him. Coupled with Mire, it will effectively take 4 spaces of movement to escape Mega Cthugrosh’s evil clutches.
Overall Mega Cthugrosh lives up to the Lords’ of Cthul plotting and sinister nature. He delights in making his opponent dance to his tune, while he blasts them into oblivion. Mega Cthugrosh may not be the strongest monster in Monsterpocalypse, but any good evil entity knows that real strength isn’t measured in muscle alone.
